Adi Singing Weird Al
Continuing our series of quick moments in our lives captured on video, here is a clip from our trip to Yellowstone last August. Yellowstone doesn’t have much to do with the clip, but Weird Al Yankovic does.
What you are about to see is Adi singing in the car, which would be cute enough, especially since she’s singing “The Saga Begins” (the Star Wars episode 1 song based on Don McLean’s “American Pie”). It includes one of the funniest moments of her life, and we’re fortunate that we got it on video.
This ought to auto-load and auto-play (though it may take a while; the file is 573 K). If it doesn’t, you may need to download the QuickTime plugin. Or you may want to try downloading the movie file itself to see what your computer does with it when you double click on it.
Here’s what she sang:
My, oh my, this here Anakin
Hey, is that so cute?
Maybe later, someday later now he’s just a small fry
He left his home and kissed his mommy goodbye
Saying “Going be a Jedi”

Dad • 06/30/03 • 11:03 PM:I don’t get the sound on these videos. This happens all the time. Once David did something I don’t remember to get the sound, but I don’t get it normally. Anyone know what to do? I’ll ask David tomorrow.
Patrick • 07/01/03 • 9:14 AM:Email David to see what he did. I assume you’ve checked that your speakers are plugged in and you don’t have them muted? Is the video showing in QuickTime? Maybe download the plugin? (Because sometimes other programs like Windows Media Player will pick up these videos and play them, but maybe don’t have all the right capabilities.)
In other news, no comments on how incredibly cool these two videos are?
Dan • 07/01/03 • 6:19 PM:that was awesome. that’s my comment about adi singing. i like how she says “goodbye”.
David • 07/02/03 • 10:01 PM:ditto to what Danny said. I love it.
as for Dad and the sound - I just watched it and in order to hear it, I just turned the volume on the speakers up (so that they were no longer on zero). who knew? oh yeah, and I’m at home with the same computer.
Dad • 07/04/03 • 12:21 AM:David,
The sound now works because I opened up the volume controls on the computer. Before that, the volume knob on the speaker didn’t work. I’m not quite as stupid as you would like.
