This novel, no verbs

The French (or one of them, at least) have done it again. This time it’s a novel with no verbs. Critics seem to think it’s not very good as a novel, though they’re still comparing it to Georges Perec’s novel without the letter e. I typically tell my students that their verbs are the most important words in their sentences (as a way of getting them away from passive construction and bloated subjects and “is +” verb construction).

For what purpose? Because of fame, fortune? My word! Ridiculous. The importance of verbs (passivity notwithstanding), their critical role, actions…what a moron. Those French!
