Rush #1 among Geeks

According to The Register Rush is the favorite band of all sorts of IT geeks. The only category of computer-related people who did not vote for Rush as their favorite band is the Sales and Marketing group, who nevertheless voted Rush #2 after Heart.

That said, I truly don’t get the article writer’s animosity. Sure, I’m super-biased, but it seems like even if you don’t like Rush, you should respect them for rising far above the pettiness of mainstream music and for being technically excellent musicians. Am I wrong?
