superman reconfigured

This photo of the new Superman is disappointing on many levels. First, the “S” is way too small. Look at the space between his belt and the bottom of the S! I can’t stand it. Compare him to this Christopher Reeve version. And what kind of red it that? I mean, Superman’s S and his cape are RED, for Pete’s sake, not maroon! (The back side of his cape looks almost brown!) Not only that, his legs are too fat. Now, I’ll admit that originally, I didn’t think Chris Reeve was ripped enough to play the part, but he won me over with his acting. Maybe that’ll happen with the new guy, but jeeze, get a red cape and an S you can be proud of.

The photo has moved here.

I saw this photo a few months ago and had a similar reaction. But I’m pretty sure they’ve renamed the character “TorsoMan” so you can’t be too peeved. The red isn’t red, it’s ugly, and the S is a heavy piece of plastic glued on to his suit.

But they know what they want. After all, we’re dealing with the same comic book company that changed their logo from this to this. Ouch! They look like Boston College’s football uniforms, which, by the way, are the worst uniforms in existence. Worse than Oregon’s.

(Just look at BC’s numbers! Penalty!)
