Musicophilia

Oliver Sacks has a new book out. It’s called Musicophilia. It looks incredible and it seems like it will answer or at least address many questions we’ve had concerning music. The Amazon link has some very interesting videos with Sacks. Here is an interview with Oliver on NPR. Side note: his book, Uncle Tungsten, is one of my favs all-time (a longer, more in depth version of “Brilliant Light” which appeared in the New Yorker - I still remember when Dad gave me a copy).

The man who mistook his wife for a piano? I love all these crazy stories about what damaged or unusual brains can do. I’m not sure I like his term “brainworms” to describe “catchy” tunes you can’t get out of your head. Come to think of it, aren’t there real brain worms that invade your brain and bore holes in it until you die?
